UVEITIS

Uvea is the middle layer in the eyeball behind the retina. The uveal consists of 3 parts. The iris is the visible part of the uvea and gives color to the eye (blue, black, brown). The ciliary body is the middle portion that secretes the fluid inside the eye. The choroid is the posterior portion of the uvea

What Is Uveitis?

Inflammation or swelling in any part of the uveal is called uveitis. Types:
Depending on the location, it is either called anterior uveitis (iris and ciliary body are involved), intermediate uveitis (ciliary body and the vitreous is involved), posterior uveitis (choroids and retina involved), panuveitis (all layers of the uvea are involved).Inflammation Type: Granulomatous or non-granulomatous type

Causes

Infection (bacteria like tuberculosis, viruses like herpes, parasites like toxoplasmosis)
N
Due to an autoimmune disease like Ankylosing spondilitis, Psoriasis, SLE … etc
