Cornea

Cornea

Your cornea is a vital protective layer of your eye. It’s part of the focusing process that helps you see clearly, almost 60 per cent of light focusing is done by the cornea. IT IS THE FIRST “LENS” OF OUR EYE

They’re also incredibly sensitive, helping you instinctively and immediately react to stop anything from harming your eyes further.

INFECTIOUS DISEASE MANAGEMENT

The cornea is the clear tissue at the front of the eye. Damage to your cornea’s surface makes it easier for germs — including viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites — to cause infections. One example is the parasitic infection of acanthamoeba keratitis. Symptoms include rapid onset of pain and redness of the eye, itching, blurred vision, tearing or discharge from the eye, and sensitivity to light.

Keratitis resulting from an infection is among the leading causes of preventable blindness worldwide

Eye infections need to be addressed immediately systematically and meticulously to prevent long-standing sequelae in the form of ocular surface disturbances and visual complications. Being a NABH dully accredited hospital We have expertise in providing accurate diagnosis with effective management of corneal ulcers, infectious conjunctivitis and other eye infections.

Fungal keratitis

This fungal infection develops after an injury to the cornea involving a plant or plant material

Acanthamoeba keratitis

This infection most often occurs in contact lens wearers. It is an amoebic infection and, though rare, can lead to blindness

DRY EYE MANAGEMENT

The prevalence of DED has been reported to range from 5 to 50% OF the Indian population., India is a tropical country, and this wide range can be attributed to the variability in the definition chosen for conducting different studies These figures may just represent the tip of an iceberg, as not all patients suffering from milder and asymptomatic forms of the disease seek medical care.

Tears are necessary for maintaining the health of the front surface of the eye and for providing clear vision impact of DED is beyond vision, with these patients experiencing role limitations, pain, low vitality and poor general health with a significant impact on the quality of life

Dry eyes can occur when tear production and drainage are not in balance. It occurs when a person doesn’t have enough quality tears to lubricate and nourish the eyes

Dr AEH is concerned about improving the quality of life and having healthy eyes and vision, we plan for a systematic treatment procedure that includes diagnosis and general lifestyle changes to combat Dry Eye Disease.

DO’S AND DON’T’S:

CONTACT LENS CLINIC

Contact lenses are thin, clear plastic disks you wear in your eye to improve your vision. Contacts float on the tear film that covers your cornea. Like eyeglasses, contact lenses correct vision problems caused by refractive errors. A refractive error is when the eye does not refract (bend or focus) light properly into the eye resulting in a blurred image. Contacts can improve vision for people with these refractive errors:
Myopia (nearsightedness)
Hyperopia (farsightedness)
Astigmatism (distorted vision)
Presbyopia
After careful assessment of ocular surface and eligibility, expert opinion on providing the right contact lens and its care, usability and maintenance with supervised guidance, thus increasing performance in day to day activities. We specialise in
Hard and soft contact lenses
Rigid gas permeable lenses
